What are items to appear for for an offroad car?
December 28th, 2012 at 0:40Question by Suprdud: What are issues to look for for an offroad auto?
I havent significantly of an concept, i actually want a vehicle that has offroad capabilities, and my guess is:
higher horsepower/massive engine
all terrain cars
no longbeds/crew cabs
lifted
great suspension
4×4
.
I like tahoes and smaller suvs like the blazer, but i also like something big like trucks. I cant afford some new spendy vehicle although.
What are best things to ahve for an offroad auto? what would you suggest for one particular?

Mr wabbit was right. The separate differential is a must if you are planning to drive in some serious sand/mud/snow. Otherwise get a shovel, you will need it.
4×4 is a must obviously.
Engine size isn’t really that big a deal. I own a factory stock 1979 Chevy Blazer. The engine is the standard 350 and I’ve been to places that I couldn’t reach with much stronger pickups (ford 350 with a 6.2L engine for example).
You want the engine to be in good shape, that’s all. You want the transmission to be compatible with the engine. Get some wide-medium profile tires.
Lifting can come in handy occasionally but too high and you compromise your safety driving a vehicles which has a center of gravity that’s 6 feet above the road. That means more chances of rollover.
Honestly, just get an SUV that would look nice for going to work every day and hitting the clubs on the weekends AND get you out of trouble when offroading.
Suggestions are:
Toyota FJ cruiser (it’s a bit ugly but by god one of the best off road experiences I’ve had)
Jeep Cherokee (high maintenance but worth it)
Last but not least the GMC Yukon… Very nice, low maintenance and reliable as it gets.
Good luck
